Relocated site October 2009; please note that much of the information on this site has not been revised since 2006 and is currently being updated.  Information not located in a file called "updated2010" is at least 4 years old and perhaps as much as 10 years old.

Many people engage in a process of self-victimization by claiming that they cannot take action or responsibility for their health because they cannot afford to pay for healthcare.  Lack of finances as a limiting factor in healthcare is actually true for only a relatively small percentage of people.

Most people spend money freely on things that have little or no long-term life-enhancing value.

At $45 dollars per month, cable television costs about $500 per year.

A Grande Cafe Latte at Starbucks costs $3.05.  Over the course of a year, this adds up to $1,113.  If you only buy designer coffee 5 days per week (such as on the way to work), then the cost per year is $793 for the annual coffee habit.

Thus, it is easy to see that simple choices such as "I'll get cable television" and "I'll just buy a Starbucks coffee on the way to work" can add up to almost $1,200 per year.

People justify their spending in different ways, but for people with significant health problems, they are commonly resourceful enough to find comfortable ways to obtain the personalized healthcare they want, need, and deserve.
